This short documentary is set over a single summer afternoon in the Carey’s downstairs backroom. Charlie Carey drinks vodka/red bull and buzzes on speed, I drink tea, our conversation bounces between family, prison, cancer, and naked women. We swing between laughing and crying. Charlie is no angel nor a cancer story cliché. He has 16 criminal convictions and a kind heart, he is a chancer, a charmer and a cunt and I’m the pretty bird from upstairs who he protected.
